Brandon Fraser dished on his latest comedy Rental Family, helmed by the Japanese director Hikari and how the actor ticked off some things off of his wish list with the movie.
The Academy Award winner filmed the movie in Tokyo, Japan which is something that had a big impact on him.
In an interview with Extra, The Mummy star revealed that when shooting in different locations for different projects, he wouldn’t get much of a chance to explore.
However, when it came to the new release and shooting in Japan, Fraser stated, “It’s helpful to immerse yourself, if you can. I brought myself here a little bit early to wander the streets, eat my way from one end of the town to the other, make friends with people, which was never difficult.”
“This film is a love letter to Tokyo. It's a love letter to loneliness,” he added before explaining the director’s vision for the movie.
Fraser unveiled that she told them about loneliness and how it has been increasing and creeping up in culture for decades.
Hikari told the actors that individuals are not having children and the tech takeover, especially in Japan is much more advanced so things are more isolated in the futuristic country rather than some other parts of the worlds.
Notably, The Whale actor emphasised that the plot grasps the essential characteristic of prioritizing someone else’s interests in front of your own.
