YouTube has given users and avid watchers social media updates after the second most visited website in the world crashed.
The platform was disrupted on various devices, be it phones or computers globally, and videos weren’t loading for viewers, instead a message saying “Something went wrong. Try again,” flashed on the screen
As a result, internet users took to social media platforms such as X to complain about the outage, which made the official Team YouTube page assure users that they were working to fix the problem.
YouTube took to the platform to inform confused netizens that the issue was affecting the masses and that they were not alone, also linking a thread for updates on the extensive video sharing platform.
“Update: An issue with our recommendations system prevented videos from appearing across surfaces on YouTube (including the homepage, the YouTube app, YouTube Music and YouTube Kids). The homepage is back, but we're still working on a full fix – more coming soon!” they wrote.
Meanwhile in the latest tweet by the page, they claim “Aaaand we're back!! This issue has been fixed across YouTube. Thanks for all the reports and for bearing with us while we sorted it out,” with a red heart emoji.
Notably, YouTube has over 2.7 billion monthly active users which is a good indicator of why its outage had such a massive impact.
