Tyler Perry recalls ‘terrible’ accident in Italy: ‘I screamed so loud’

Tyler Perry revisited encountering a horrific accident while he was in Italy.

The Beauty in Black star was working on his third instalment of Why Did I Get Married third instalment, Why Did I Get Married Again? in Lake Como.

The filmmaker explained that the accident occurred while he was his ridding bike in Elba where he "flipped over the handle bars, broke my collarbone."

He shared that after that he was due for a surgery but Italian hospitals were a whole different story.

Visiting the healthcare facility, Perry called it as the "worst mistake" of his life as the Italian doctors treated his injury with quite brutality.

The Straw actor revealed that while a doctor tried to help him out by assuring him that he can "fix" it, however, "he puts the strap on me, pulls... I screamed so loud, man, I think I woke up everybody in the whole country. It was awful."

Sharing details of his injury, the 56-years-old filmmaker revealed that "it was broken and it separated in two places and he was trying to pull it together with no pain meds. Nothing!"

Eventually, Perry walked away from the medical centre got drunk to numb the pain and flew to America to get treatment.

"God, I love my Italian people, but don't go to the hospital there," he said.

As of now, Perry has a packed 2026, beginning with his featured film, Joe's College Road Trip, which was released on Netflix on February 13.
