James Van Der Beek's wife Kimberly highlighted the efforts of celebrities such as Alana Springsteen, in raising funds for her family.
The 44-year-old, whose husband passed away from colorectal cancer on Wednesday, February 11th, took to her social media, namely Instagram to repost Alana Springsteen’s cover of the Dawson's Creek theme song I Don't Want To Wait.
Meanwhile the 25-year-old singer had shared an acoustic rendition of the song to support the GoFundMe which will financially aid the grieving family amid their struggles.
In the caption of her post, Alana began, "rip james van der beek [prayer hand, heartbroken emoji] this loss hit me hard today.”
She added, “so much girlhood was lived to the backdrop of his work. praying for his beautiful family. link to the gofundme that his friends started to help with their expenses is in my bio if you feel led to support.”
Alana was joined by Sara Bares and Lauren LaRue in intimate cover and the trio even earned praise from the original singer of the song Paula Cole in the comments.
Notably, another generous donation to the GoFundMe came from the late actor’s character’s favourite director, Steven Spielberg who pitched in $25,000.
James and his wife, Kimberly Van Der Beek have six children together.
