Melania Trump has released her eponymous documentary Melania only to receive poor reviews, odd box office success and digs from late night hosts Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel.
The First Lady of the United States shared a glimpse of her journey from mere days before her husband Donald Trump's second presidential inauguration in 2025, an effort which has not been received well by the masses.
In a recent episode of The Late Show, host Colbert gave context into the film’s box office numbers by comparing it to the budget.
“Seven million dollars would seem like a solid opening, until you realize that’s less than 10 percent of the $75 million Amazon spent on the documentary, which includes paying the first lady herself at least $28 million,” he stated.
Meanwhile the other late night host, Kimmel, focused more on the critical reception of the January 30th release, discussing the ratings it has received on review aggregate websites.
“As of tonight, Melania has a score of five percent on Rotten Tomatoes from the critics, that is very low. To put that in perspective, that is one percent lower than Gigli,” he said referring to the film featuring Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez.
Notably, well-reputed movie reviewers and outlets have slammed the documentary, even though Melania herself claimed on social media that the film was well-liked.
