Derek, Hayley Hough reveal emotional journey of welcoming first child

Derek Hough and his wife Hayley Erbert Hough have given fans an intimate look at the birth of their daughter, Everley Capri.

The couple, who welcomed their baby on December 29, recently marked one month with their newborn by sharing a heartfelt Instagram video of the home birth.

The clips show the 31-year-old dancer going through labour and delivery, including moments in a birthing pool, with Derek by her side.

Notably the video ends with the happy family cuddling their new arrival.

Hayley opened up about the experience in a moving caption.

“I’ve gone through a lot in this lifetime, but childbirth and motherhood revealed a depth I had never known,” she wrote.

She described the birth as “raw, wild, primal, vulnerable, transformative, sacred,” adding that she never felt fear, only support and strength.

She also paid tribute to the 40-year-old choreographer, praising his calm presence and unwavering belief in her.

“He had unwavering belief in my strength and was my anchor through it all… I love you so much.” 

Derek responded, calling the birth “the most powerful experience I have ever witnessed” and expressing awe for his wife and all mothers.

For the unversed, the couple got married in August 2023 and later announced Hayley’s pregnancy in July last year.
