Nick Frost opened up about he received the role of Hagrid in the upcoming highly anticipated Harry Potter TV series.

The British comedian was casted as Hogwarts grounds keeper along with Dominic McLaughlin (Harry), Alastair Stout (Ron) and Arabella Stanton (Hermione).

In an interview with The Guardian, the Hot Fuzz actor said that had his eye on the role since quite a while and his "partner suggested trying to manifest it."

He said last Christmas he watched all the Harry Potter films back to back while writing Hagrid "7,000 times."

Luckily the unusual approach paid off and he received the beloved role.

The Shaun of the Dead star previously in conversation with Collider spoke about his experience of playing Hagrid.

Talking about what he hopes to bring to the fan-favourite character, Frost said, "While I'm really aware of what went before me in terms of Robbie [Coltrane]'s amazing performance, I'm never going to try and be Robbie."

Hinting at what to expect, he said he'll "do something — not ‘different,’ I think you have to be respectful to the subject matter."

In addition to Frost, McLaughlin, Stout and Stanto, other cast members include, John Lithgow (Professor Dumbledore), Janet McTeer (Professor McGonagal), Papa Essiedu (Severus Snape) and many others.

Harry Potter TV series is slated for premiere on HBO in 2027.
