Claire Foy reflected up growing up being inspired by her love for historical properties and period eras.
British actress known for playing iconic role of late Queen Elizabeth in The Crown, opened up about her childhood heavily filled with influences of bygone time.
In an essay published by Wall Street Journal, the H Is for Hawk star shared that she spent four years in a "barn conversion" in Buckinghamshire.
"It had a massive garden, but there was nothing planted, just grass," she said.
When she was 11, after her parents got divorced, she and her siblings moved out with her mother into a "smaller house in the village."
After watching 1995 Pride and Prejudice, she was captivated by the romance and simplicity of previous times.
Foy loved doing leisure walks around estates of historic National Trust properties, imagining herself living in one of them during classical age.
Taking her passion for old times on a different level, the Wolf Hall star used to avoid electricity and write her diary entries by candlelight.
"I didn't just want to read about that era – I wanted to live and breathe it," she explained.
Talking about her role as the late Queen of England, The Girl in Spider's Web actress revealed that she researched about her "through archives and tapes to learn how she spoke and physically carried herself."
She further detailed, "But most important, I had to build the character. I wanted her to be someone who evolved slowly through experiences and found her way. That I certainly understood."
Foy eventually won two Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe for her role.
H Is for Hawk is now playing in theatres.
