Leighton Meester makes unexpected revelation about her marriage to Adam Brody

Leighton Meester reveals the simple secret to a happy marriage with Adam Brody.

The 39-year-old actress has lifted the lid on her long-lasting love with husband Adam and her secret to relationship success is refreshingly unique.

Leighton, who has been married to The O.C. star since 2014, says their strong bond isn’t built on grand gestures or fairy-tale ideas, but on genuine friendship and real connection.

Speaking to People, she explained: “I think just liking each other and getting along is a big part of it. At a base level, it’s really about thinking, ‘I really like this person.’”

And it’s not just romance that keeps their marriage strong. The former Gossip Girl star says personal growth plays a huge role too.

She admitted that both partners have to accept imperfection.

“You’re both going to challenge each other,” she said. 

“You’re not perfect, they’re not perfect – and that’s part of being in a real relationship.”

Leighton also opened up about her emotional “journey of self-love”, revealing how she’s learned to deal with criticism and negativity over the years.
