Charli XCX’s mockumentary, which features her getting ready to embark on her first-ever headlining tour, The Moment has officially had its world premiere at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival.

The Brat hit maker’s film has received mix reviews from critics and outlets that got to experience the film before its wider release on January 30.

Us Magazine called the Apple singer a “natural, engaging actor” and the entertainment website The Playlist dubbed her monologue borderline heartbreaking and her acting “startlingly good,” adding “Love it or hate it, this film will linger with you. You certainly won’t forget (Charli XCX’s) stirring performance.”

Meanwhile other outlets such as The Hollywood Reporter wrote “The Moment is entertaining enough, for a while. The film probably should have endeavoured to be more broadly accessible and entertaining if it wanted to be anything more than a fandom’s supplemental material.”

The Moment is directed by Aidan Zamiri and has around a 50% rating as of yet on websites that show review aggregator.

Notably, the criticisms for the film which also stars Kylie Jenner, Alexander Skarsgard and Rosanna Arquette, are also mixed online and solidify the polarizing nature of the mockumentary.
