A terrifying new chapter is about to rise from the sands as the first teaser for Lee Cronin’s twisted reboot of The Mummy has sent horror fans into a frenzy.

The upcoming film promises pure dread, reimagining the iconic monster as something far darker and far more disturbing.

Notably, the brief teaser wastes no time setting an eerie tone, opening with haunting music and unsettling imagery rather than flashy action.

The story centres on the daughter of a journalist who vanished mysteriously in the desert.

Eight years later, she suddenly returns alive, but deeply changed.

What should be an emotional reunion soon spirals into what the official logline chillingly describes as a “living nightmare”.

The minute-long teaser reveals very little footage, but what it does show is enough to unsettle.

A photographer is seen documenting a grey-skinned, mummified corpse, the tension building with every click of the camera.

The clip ends on a skin-crawling note when a spider crawls out of the body’s mouth, leaving viewers horrified.

The film stars Jack Reynor, Laia Costa, Verónica Falcón and May Calamawy, with production handled by horror heavyweights Blumhouse and Atomic Monster for New Line Cinema, part of Warner Bros.

Though traditionally linked to Universal Pictures, the project marks a bold new direction for the long-running franchise.

Unlike previous versions starring Brendan Fraser or Tom Cruise, which leaned heavily into action and spectacle, Cronin, best known for Evil Dead Rises is steering the story firmly into gory, psychological horror.

“This will be unlike any Mummy film you’ve ever seen,” he previously promised.

“I’m digging deep to raise something truly ancient — and terrifying.”

The Mummy creeps into cinemas on April 17, and if the chilling teaser has raised excitement among fans.
