The Weeknd, whose real name is Abel Tesfaye, achieved another milestone before unleashing the supposed collaboration.

It was reported that his song Is There Someone Else? from Dawn FM on Spotify reached 1 billion streams which makes it his 30th song.

The other songs that have previously earned the milestone include: Blinding Lights Starboy, Die For You, The Hills, Save Your Tears, One Of The Girls (with JENNIE, Lily Rose Depp), Call Out My Name and others.

This came after it was reported that the singer finalised a catalogue deal with Lyric Capital. However, he did not give up on the creative rights of his tracks.

Despite entering the $1 billion deal, he stays the owner of his creation. For this purpose, a unique model was developed for both his masters and publishing.

The agreement was considered as a "new standard" for other musicians maintaining “equity and control.” Moreover, the model only applied to the songs released till 2025.

Is The Weeknd retiring?

No future works will be affected by this deal. Meanwhile, the singer is reported to be retiring his famous persona The Weeknd after wrapping his tour After Hours Til Dawn in 2026.
