Kristen Stewart has sparked fresh Twilight fever after revealing she would love to direct a big-budget remake of the iconic vampire saga that made her a global superstar.
The 35-year-old actress, who played Bella Swan in the hugely successful franchise between 2008 and 2012, says she’s more than ready to step behind the camera and give the cult romance a bold new life.
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Snow White and the Huntsman actress praised the original filmmakers, including Catherine Hardwicke and Chris Weitz, for shaping the series during its early, experimental days.
She described the films as “weird,” “squirrelly” and deeply tied to a moment in time before anyone realised just how massive Twilight would become.
Now, following the release of her 2025 directorial debut The Chronology of Water, Kristen says the idea of re-adapting Stephenie Meyer’s novels is tempting.
“Imagine if we had a huge budget and a bunch of love and support,” she said enthusiastically, adding: “Yeah, sure, I’ll do the remake. I’m committed!”
For those unfamiliar, the original saga spanned five films, featured multiple directors, and starred Robert Pattinson, Taylor Lautner and Anna Kendrick alongside Kristen.
Despite its enormous box-office success, she admits she never expected Twilight to take off.
In a past interview, she revealed she thought the first movie felt more like an “oddball indie” than a blockbuster-in-the-making and never believed a sequel was guaranteed.
Now, years later, it seems Bella Swan may rise again and this time under Kristen’s own direction.
