Kate Winslet has opened up about the message behind her next project which is also her son’s directorial debut.

Goodbye June is directed by the British actress and her husband, director Sam Mendes’ son Joe Anders.

The story of the movie is based primarily on grief, loss and family connections as they process the loss of a loved one.

The main character June, played by British acting legend Helen Mirren, finds out her health is worsening as cancer is taking over her body. Her four children unite beside her bed to make their mother’s last days peaceful.

Speaking about the complicated family relations, Kate said “Some of our most complicated relationships in life are with the people we love the most in the world, the people we are closest to, the people we need the most for support and care.”

“I do hope that people are able to perhaps see something of themselves in this story, these characters, these family dynamics”, she added.

Previously, Kate revealed that she would cry on set off the cameras as she was “reliving” the loss of her mother who passed away 8 years ago.
