Lily Collins as Emily Cooper donned several conspicuous outfits in Emily, along with an eye-catching style in many seasons of the American romantic comedy drama television series, Emily in Paris.

Following an online debate among some viewers, the lead behind those attires on the Netflix series finally spoke out.

"I think that fashion is political; it carries a message, ideas," Marylin Fitoussi tells People.

She added, "Clothing tells who you are and what you dream of, it is your presentation to the world. I want to have fun with clothes."

The designer revealed that she exclusively wanted to convey her vision. "Emily in Paris fashion was my way to express my own vision and was meant to fuel your imagination."

She continues, "My intention wasn’t to make fashion or to create a trend, I did not want to do something cute, politically correct, or perfect. I wanted to create something interesting to look at."

The notable designer marked that one has to dress to please and express oneself and to maintain individuality instead of following a trend. Adding, "I’m just passionate and I stay true to my vision.”

"The way I mix patterns and fabrics can be disconcerting, but what I’m trying to do is to provoke new ideas about how pieces can be put together in a different way," the bold stylist elaborated.

Marylin further noted that she was unconcerned about online critiques, stating, "I’m only focusing on what I think is right, different, and interesting for the character regardless of what everybody else is thinking."

It is to mention that Emily in Paris season five is now streaming on Netflix.
