Simu Liu credits Taylor Swift for ‘special’ contribution to his engagement

Simu Liu is opening up about the time that Taylor Swift made a meaningful contribution into his engagement with fiancée Allison Hsu.

The Barbie actor proposed to his soon-to-be wife in May in Paris, France, and is revealing a surprise contribution made by the 14-time Grammy winner, that made the occasion all the more special.

In his latest appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Canadian actor stated, "I'll preface this by saying my fiancée works in music, so she’s a digital marketing executive, and she grew up a Swiftie. She loves Taylor Swift.”

Simu added that the Love Story singer was a big part of the start of their relationship, and that he had gotten to know Allison through the songs, since they meant a lot to her.

The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star then added that he reached out to Taylor’s publicist so that he could try to incorporate her in the special moment.

" I said, 'Hey, is there any way that I could convince you to make like a two-second video just to say congrats?' And she literally two days later sent it over, and I was able to play it for her. And so Taylor Swift was the cherry on top," the 36-year-old added.

Notably, Simu revealed that Allison was emotional beforehand, but the Paper Rings singer’s congratulatory video made her break down.
