Michael B. Jordan reveals impact of having same name as athlete

Michael B. Jordan is dishing on how it felt to have his name be nearly identical to that of the widely known National Basketball Association player Michael Jordon.

The Sinners actor discussed the origins of his name and the impact of it resembling the iconic figure’s, and the way it shaped how he wanted to be,

During Variety’s Actors On Actors segment with Jesse Plemons, the Creed star said, “I think, having a name Michael Jordan, I think growing up as a kid affected things in a way that in hindsight I can talk about it but in the moment didn’t really understand.”

“I think it kinda created like a healthy chip, so like of wanting to be competitive… or a sense of wanting your own identity you know in a way… of course you look up to him, you know what I’m saying like how could you not?” Michael added.

The director also added that he looked up mainly to his parents as an example of how to be, and told Jesse that he was not named after the Chicago Bulls player, but after his father.
