Miley Cyrus has opened up about the emotional cost of life in the spotlight, while surprising fans with the dramatic new visuals for her track featured in Avatar: Fire & Ash.
The 33-year-old star, who grew up touring with her father Billy Ray Cyrus, revealed on The Hollywood Reporter’s Awards Chatter podcast that life on the road eventually became “pretty isolating” despite looking glamorous from the outside.
“When I was little it was like a playground,” she explained.
“But later it started feeling more like a battleground… mentally and emotionally, it’s isolating.
You see thousands of people, then you get on a tour bus and it’s just you. It’s a big drop.”
Miley also reflected on her gruelling childhood schedule on Hannah Montana, recalling long filming days squeezed between school hours, before performing as herself on weekends.
“Kids get time to play… we didn’t have that,” she said.
The Flowers hitmaker admitted that growing up in the spotlight “isn’t healthy for anyone”, saying she missed out on a natural growth cycle and went through wild phases as a result.
And even as a kid, she felt pressured knowing entire teams relied on her success.
“The error part is scary when you’re keeping the lights on for grown-ups with families,” she said.
Despite those challenges, Liam Hemsworth's ex-wife is stepping into a new creative chapter, dropping the striking visuals for her contribution to Avatar: Fire & Ash, sending fans into meltdown online.
Miley Cyrus has confirmed her engagement to her partner of four years, musician Maxx Morando.
The three-time Grammy winner was seen wearing a gold and diamond ring on her engagement finger at the premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash in Los Angeles on Monday.
