Meghan Markle's father Thomas Markle in ICU, 'fighting for his life'

Meghan Markle’s estranged father, Thomas Markle, is reportedly “fighting for his life” after being rushed to hospital for emergency surgery.

The 81-year-old, who now lives in the Philippines, was taken to intensive care after falling gravely ill at home, according to his son, Thomas Jr.

Sharing the frightening update, he explained, per Express “I took dad to a hospital close to our home and they did various scans and the doctors said his life was in imminent danger.”

“They raced us by ambulance, with the sirens going, to a much bigger hospital in the center of the city. My dad has undergone emergency surgery. I would ask everyone around the world to keep him in their thoughts.”

He also made a direct emotional appeal to Meghan, saying: “My only wish is that Meghan shows my father some compassion. He is literally fighting for his life.”

Meghan and her father have had no contact since 2018, and despite the long estrangement, Thomas has repeatedly expressed his hope for reconciliation.

Earlier this year, he said he will “always love” his daughter, even if he doesn’t agree with “some of the things she has done.”

According to Thomas Jr., the 81-year-old underwent a three-hour surgery on Thursday and is expected to face a second procedure to remove a blood clot.

His daughter Samantha, 61, also shared her worry, telling the Daily Mail: "He is a strong man, but he has been through so much. I am praying that he is strong enough to survive this.”

“My father has been through two heart attacks, a stroke and an earthquake. I hope he can pull through this."

Thomas Markle has suffered several serious health crises over the past few years, including two heart attacks before Meghan’s 2018 royal wedding and a stroke in 2022.
