Meghan Markles new interview raises questions: prime table, prime hotspot

Meghan Markle’s latest magazine interview has ignited fresh scrutiny after Harper’s Bazaar revealed what one journalist described as a “calculated” move by the Duchess of Sussex during their Los Angeles meetup.

Meghan, who stars on the magazine’s December 2025/January 2026 cover, sat down with writer Kaitlyn Greenidge for multiple interviews, and one in particular has grabbed attention.

Besides the now-viral New York meeting, where the Duchess was formally announced by staff despite being in a nearly empty home, Greenidge also described their Los Angeles lunch at the famed Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel, a setting that instantly raised eyebrows.

Greenidge wrote: “Now it’s lunchtime at the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel. I’ve followed Meghan underneath the iconic green-and-white-striped awning of the entryway and through the cream-carpeted lobby and outdoors onto the patio, where a live piano player’s notes accompany our procession.”

“Long the see-and-be-seen spot for Hollywood dealmaking and politicking, it is a calculated choice as the site for my first interview with Meghan."

"We are ushered to a circular table in the corner of the garden, a prime seat where we can see the other diners and they can see the three of us.”

The description immediately caught the attention of commentators, with critics suggesting the Duchess deliberately chose a location that ensures maximum visibility at one of Hollywood’s most exclusive lunch destinations.

Speaking on the NY POSTcast, New York Post reporter Caitlyn Becker emphasized just how strategic the choice appeared: “Quite the hotspot, there’s one in New York. If you haven’t heard of this, it’s like impossible to get into."

"These two sat at a prime table, at a prime hotspot where they could be seen by everyone. The interviewer called it a calculated move.”
