Priyanka Chopra is saddened by the loss of cinema with Bollywood legend Dharmendra’s death at 89.

After being hospitalized last month due to age-related issues, Dharmendra was discharged on November 12 to continue treatment at home.

However, on Monday, November 24, the influential figure in Hindi cinema passed away in Mumbai, and tributes poured in following his death.

After news of his passing spread, Chopra took to Instagram this morning to pay tribute to the late legend.

“In the year 2001, my first signing amount in the movies came from Vijayta Films,” she wrote. “One of the first Hindi movies I ever shot was under his banner, with his eldest son.”

The global actress added that Dharmendra and his family ensured her a warm welcome in the industry even back then, when no one knew her. Chopra acknowledged that newcomers, who didn’t know anyone in Mumbai, aren’t often treated with such warmth and grace.

“This feels personal, and I know I share that feeling with many others in the world,” she continued. “Some people leave behind films, some leave behind feelings. He has left us with both.”

The Head of States actress concluded, noting that Dharmendra’s presence was “magnetic” and that only he was capable of filling the frame with his “smile and charisma.”

“This is a big loss for cinema, but his legacy is permanent,” Chopra closed her tribute.
