Dharmendra dies at 89: Tributes pour in for legend

Dharmendra, who is known as the “He-Man of Bollywood” passed away at the age of 89 after earlier reports of death went viral.

The sad passing of the Sholay star was dubbed “end of an era” by Karan Johar while a statement from his family is yet to be released.

The 53-year-old penned down an extensive note for the Bollywood star on his Instagram, highlighting his “enigmatic screen presence” and a “bonafide Legend of Indian Cinema.”

Towards the end of the heart-breaking post, Karan noted about “a gaping hole in our industry … a space that can never be filled by anyone … there will always be the one and only DHARAMJI.”

Celebrities and fans were shocked to learn about his demise as one of the Instagram users was “literally shocked and devastated, the way he lived his life, an inspiration for the generation...”

Another netizen re-watched his iconic performance in Sholay “with family yesterday and reading this today!!”

This came after the Dharam Veer actor sent shockwaves earlier as the media confirmed his death but the news was later slammed by his family members and other stars.

Dharmendra last appeared on-screen in 2024’s film Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya while his last project Ikkis is slated to release on December 25, 2025.
