'Home Alone' star Macaulay Culkin shares hilarious moment with son

Macaulay Culkin’s iconic role as Kevin McCallister in Home Alone remains a mystery to his youngest fans and his own sons as well.

The 45-year-old actor revealed that four-year-old Dakota and three-year-old Carson, his children with fiancée Brenda Song, have no idea their dad was the plucky 10-year-old left behind in the classic 1990 Christmas film. 

Speaking at the 35th anniversary of Home Alone at Long Beach Terrace Theater during his A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin tour, he said: “They have no idea that I’m Kevin. I want to keep up that illusion as long as possible.”

Furthermore, he recalled a bedtime chat when he showed his son an old family photo. 

“He immediately looks at me and goes, ‘That kid looks like Kevin,’” he said. 

The tot even insisted that he was Kevin after the actor recounted famous movie scenes, including defending his home from burglars Harry and Marv. 

“Do you remember when you kicked burglars out?” Macaulay asked. 

Dakota confidently replied, “Yep… You slide down the stairs? ‘I sure do.’ I was like, ‘You liar! That was me.’”

Despite the confusion, The Good Son actor loves sharing the film with his boys.

“Yeah, I really do enjoy watching that movie with my sons,” he admitted.

For the unversed, he also reprised his legendary role in the Home But Not Alone campaign for Home Instead, honouring the original movie’s 35th anniversary and showing Kevin protecting his mum, Kate McCallister.
