Ruben Fleischer is thrilled to bring the original Magic Crew back together in Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.

After Isla Fisher’s Henley was absent from the 2016 sequel, replaced by Lizzy Caplan’s Lula, Fleischer says he’s thrilled that both actresses now appear together in the third installment of the franchise.

“They’re both incredible actors, so funny and so talented,” he told Bleeding Cool, referencing their previous collaboration in 2012’s Bachelorette.

While Fisher’s return was teased in early marketing for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, Caplan’s presence came as a pleasant surprise to fans.

The movie highlights the lack of women in the magic world, giving both Henley and Lula independent arcs and setting the stage for a potential Horsewomen spinoff featuring newcomer June, played by Ariana Greenblatt.

Fleischer added that showcasing the women’s dynamic outside the shadow of the Horsemen “gives them power, and no one was expecting that. It really calls out the male-dominated magic world while letting these characters shine on their own.”

With the ensemble back together, fans can expect the same mix of misdirection, humor, and high-stakes illusions that made the series a hit.
