Chevy Chase, who is one of the earliest original cast members of Saturday Night Live, has made a candid confession.

The 82-year-old was one of the pioneers of the beloved Weekend Update segment of the super hit sketch comedy show.

In a snippet from an upcoming documentary, I’m Chevy Chase and You’re Not, the comedian blatantly regrets cutting his journey with the show short.

"It was a mistake to leave SNL," Chase stated of the time he left during the second season of SNL, all the way back in 1976 since he fell in love with a girl who lived in Los Angeles.

The National Lampoon's Vacation actor had also expressed disappointment about Saturday Night Live in recent years.

In an interview with the Washington Post, Chase critiqued the cast and creator Lorne Michaels by saying, “I don’t want to put down Lorne or the cast, but I’ll just say … I’m amazed that Lorne has gone so low. I had to watch a little of it, and I just couldn’t f**** believe it.”

Notably, the Vacation actor has also claimed that the show went downhill after his exit and that it has bad humour now.

Why don't Bill Murray and Chevy Chase get along?

The SNL alums have a tense relationship because Murray made an offhand remark about Chevy’s marriage to Jacqueline Carlin.
