What happened between Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande before 'Wicked'?

Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, currently praised for their incredible on-screen chemistry, have made a heartfelt revelation for fans that sets a shining example of friendship.

The 38-year-old actress, playing the iconic role of Elphaba, has revealed that she and Ariana made a secret pact before filming the Wicked movies.

In her new book, Simply More: A Book for Anyone Who Has Been Told They’re Too Much, Cynthia spills the beans on their off-screen bond. 

She explains that she and the 32-year-old actress agreed to “protect and care for each other” throughout the filming process.

“Before Wicked really started rolling, Ariana and I made a pact with each other,” the Harriet actress writes. 

“We were determined to avoid the drama that can sometimes occur between co-stars and instead focus on supporting one another.”

Cynthia recalls inviting the Side to Side hitmaker over to her home to chat for hours on the floor, that cemented their “immediate connection.” 

She says their bond created a “strong synergy” that carried over on set, helping them navigate the pressures of filming together.

Ariana, who stars as Glinda alongside The Outsider star in the blockbuster franchise, admits that the friendship has been just as rewarding as the work itself.
