Kate Middletons flirty gesture leaves Prince William bashful, expert reveals

Princess Kate and Prince William transformed the Royal Variety Performance into what body language experts describe as a “private date night,” delighting royal watchers with rare, openly flirty moments during the high-profile event.

Attending the iconic show at London’s Royal Albert Hall, the Princess of Wales stunned in a dark green, off-the-shoulder velvet gown that highlighted her elegant silhouette.

She paired the look with loose curls and diamond drop earrings, while Prince William coordinated in a black velvet tuxedo.

The couple appeared more connected than ever as they walked the red carpet and took their seats in the royal box, sharing lingering glances and warm smiles throughout the evening.

Body language expert Judi James abalysed their interactions and noted a different tone to their public outing this year.

"The royals haven't always appeared totally keen to sit through the long hours of the Royal Variety show but William and Catherine bring a new keenness and energy to the night, turning it into their own private date night as well as a charitable event."

"Kate and William are often at their flirtiest best when they are both fully glammed up for a red-carpet appearance and while Kate looks radiant here, William's body language appears slightly bashful as he walks beside her.”

“His hands hang slightly in front of his torso and his puckered smile suggests he's slightly overwhelmed by the grinning glances Kate throws at him”, she added.

"Kate looks confident here, walking ahead to greet the hosts but with one eyebrow raised in that flirty signal as she looks across to William and he responds with a hand on her back in a gesture of steering and protection."

The Royal Variety Performance, now in its 113th year, has been a long-standing tradition since its first staging in 1912 under King George V and Queen Mary.

Each year, senior royals attend the event, and the Prince and Princess of Wales last appeared together at the show in 2023.
