Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo have decided to skip the New York premiere of the soon-to-drop Wicked: For Good, for an unusual reason.
The press tour was already snubbed by the Eternal Sunshine creator once before, when she couldn’t make it to Brazil, and she was also harassed by a fan at the Singapore premiere of the sequel.
It has now been revealed by Variety, “Cynthia is not feeling well and has lost her voice, therefore she and Ariana will not be doing interviews this evening.”
The Victorious star skipping the premiere in solidarity with Cynthia has added more fuel to the fire of the duo’s odd dynamic allegations, since they always seem overly emotional and touchy around one another in interviews.
“I’m sorry but when I have seen them together for an interview it's just creepy. Watching them just made my skin crawl. Something is just off,” one internet user wrote on X, “There’s something very weird about these two,” added another.
Meanwhile others made light of the fact that Ariana was skipping the interviews in solidarity, with a netizen writing, “When my friend calls in sick for work, I will be doing the same…in solidarity.”
Yes, the character of Dorothy in Wicked: For Good has been played by Bethany Weaver.
