Met Gala 2026: Jeff, Lauren Bezos take centre stage off the red carpet

Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and his wife Lauren Sánchez Bezos are set to play a major role behind the scenes at next year’s Met Gala.

On Monday, Vogue confirmed the Hollywood power couple as the primary donors funding the 2026 star-studded event, which will celebrate the museum’s upcoming “Costume Art” exhibition.

The gala, taking place on May 4, 2026, marks the first for Vogue’s new Editor-in-Chief Chloe Malle, who succeeded Anna Wintour after her 37-year reign.

Notably, Saint Laurent and Condé Nast are also chipping in to support the lavish evening, which raises funds for the Met’s Costume Institute.

The exhibition itself will run from May 10, 2026, to January 10, 2027, promising a showcase of iconic fashion history.

For the unversed, the Bezos couple first turned heads at the 2024 Met Gala, when the dress code was “The Garden of Time”.

The 55-year-old journalist wowed in a custom Oscar de la Renta gown, inspired by Tiffany glasswork, while Jeff kept it classic in a black tuxedo. 

Their appearance sparked widespread fascination after the news of their relationship broke in early 2019, after the 61-year-old CEO’s divorce from MacKenzie Scott and Lauren’s split from Patrick Whitesell.

Though the pair have kept the origins of their romance private, insiders say their bond grew gradually through collaborative projects.
