Meryl Streep and Sigourney Weaver are finally set to share the screen for the first time in the upcoming thriller Useful Idiots.
Directed by Joseph Cedar, the plot revolves around veteran journalist Diane Castle, played by Streep, reporting on New York’s luxury real estate market.
As Diane digs deeper, her investigation exposes a dangerous web of corruption and manipulation that stretches across Manhattan, putting her and everyone linked to the journalist at risk.
Weaver’s role has not yet been disclosed, but sources say she will also be playing a key role connected to the puzzling scandal.
Useful Idiots is based on a script written by Cedar and 60 Minutes producer Shachar Bar-On, with Fifth Season sponsoring and producing.
Both actresses, known for their powerhouse performances, Streep in The Devil Wears Prada and Weaver in Aliens and Working Girl have never before appeared in a project together.
The appearance of this on-screen duo has become one of the most anticipated collaborations in years. Production is expected to begin later this year.
