A new royal book has claimed that Sarah Ferguson had an affair with an American tycoon during her marriage to Prince Andrew, and even introduced him to their young daughter, Princess Beatrice.
According to author David Leigh, the former Duchess of York fell “head over heels” for Steve Wyatt, a wealthy Texan businessman she met at the Houston Grand Opera’s British Opera Festival in 1989.
Leigh’s book, Duchess of York: Uncensored, alleges their relationship blossomed while Fergie was feeling “lonely and unsupported” as Andrew’s naval duties kept him away for much of the year.
“Andrew may have been her best friend,” Leigh wrote, “but Steve Wyatt was the love of her life.”
Photographs later emerged showing Fergie and Wyatt with Princess Beatrice in early 1992, sparking headlines around the world.
Just months later, Sarah and Andrew announced their separation, finalising their divorce in 1996.
The affair reportedly ended when Wyatt became engaged to another woman, leaving Sarah heartbroken.
