Daniel Day-Lewis is one of the greatest actors of his generation who is known for his prolific characters.

The actor has won three Oscars for his iconic roles and he still believes there is one thing that does not impress him.

The 68-year-old, who won his first Oscar for his role in 1990’s My Left Foot, has expressed his disapproval for how method acting is portrayed.

“I just don't like it being misrepresented to the extent it has been”, Daniel told the Big Issue.

Method acting is a technique often adopted by actors to seep into their character.

The technique requires actors to live in isolation and stay in character even when cameras are off.

“I can't think of a single commentator who's gobbed off about the method that has any understanding of how it works and the intention behind it.”, the actor further commented.

According to the Hollywood icon it is “the intention of freeing yourself so you present your colleagues with a living”.

The Gangs of New York star himself is said to have lived in a tent in a deserted Texan oil field while making 2007's There Will Be Blood.

The Nine actor said it annoys him because people attach the idea of it to “lunacy”.
