Dakota Johnson is stepping back into the dating scene, five months after her split from long-time fiancé Chris Martin.
The Fifty Shades of Grey star and the Coldplay frontman were confirmed to have parted ways after eight years together in June 2025, as reported by multiple outlets.
Recently, a source told PEOPLE that Johnson “has been slowly dating again and she’s happy.”
The insider explained that the Hollywood actress had a “hot and cold” relationship with Martin, adding that although she always hoped for an endgame between them, “she seems lighter and more at peace now that it’s final.”
Back on June 4, reports surfaced that Johnson and Martin, who were first romantically linked in 2017, had called it quits.
Following their breakup, the source shared that Johnson is in “a great place. She’s busy, fulfilled, and she’s moved on.”
As 2025 comes to a close, Johnson has one major project lined up, the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestselling novel Verity, slated to hit theatres on October 2, 2026.
Earlier this year, she appeared in Materialists and the romantic comedy Splitsville.
Expanding her creative horizons, the actress and producer is also stepping behind the camera for the first time to direct her debut feature, A Tree Is Blue, starring Jessica Alba and Charli XCX.
