Dakota Johnson spills on her unusual post-breakup routine

Dakota Johnson, who recently ended her relationship with Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, has shared details of her rather unusual beauty ritual.

The 36-year-old actress, best known for playing Anastasia Steele in Fifty Shades of Grey, told Vogue Germany that her trademark fringe requires constant care. She even carries a pair of scissors wherever she goes.

“I’ve had bangs since I was a kid,” she said. 

“I cut them myself when I was about four, and I absolutely loved them. I just feel like myself with bangs.”

The Materialists star admitted that her martini-fuelled haircut sessions don’t always go smoothly. 

She joked that while she would love to avoid trimming her fringe so often, she enjoys the little ritual of sipping a martini while giving herself a quick trim.

Away from the camera, Dakota prefers to keep her routine simple. She lets her hair dry naturally and avoids using styling products. 

When she’s filming, however, she turns to her trusted stylists Mark Townsend and George Northwood to keep her hair in perfect shape.

Despite the constant maintenance, the Madame Web actress says she feels emotionally connected to her signature style and has no intention of changing it anytime soon.

Dakota Johnson and Chris Martin were never married, but they were in a long-term relationship that began around late 2017. 

They were often spotted together at events and family gatherings, and their relationship appeared to be serious, with reports suggesting they had even discussed marriage at one point. 

However, after nearly seven years together, the pair quietly decided to part ways in 2025. 

While neither Dakota nor Chris publicly commented on the split, sources close to them revealed that their busy schedules and different lifestyles made it difficult to maintain the relationship.
