5 Best spooky season picks 2025 for Halloween

This Halloween, there’s so much to look forward to that delivers just the spooky, chilly vibes you crave.

Let’s catch a synopsis for these five must-watch horror flicks for 2025 Halloween.

1. Black Phone 2 (Oct. 17 – Universal Pictures)

Ethan Hawke is back as The Grabber, and this time, he’s invading dreams. Think Freddy Krueger meets psychological thriller vibes. Director Scott Derrickson turns the cold, wintry backdrop into a hauntingly beautiful nightmare that’ll stick with you long after the credits roll.

2. Frankenstein (Oct. 17 – Netflix / Theaters)

Guillermo del Toro reimagines Mary Shelley’s classic with Oscar Isaac as the obsessed Dr. Frankenstein and Jacob Elordi as his tragic creation.

Expect gothic grandeur, emotional chaos, and visuals so stunning they belong in a museum. Oh, and Mia Goth’s in it, which automatically guarantees some top-tier spooky energy.

3. Good Boy (Oct. 3 – Shudder)

Ever wondered what a ghost story looks like from a dog’s point of view? This indie gem blends horror and heartbreak with a fluffy twist.

What starts as a cute canine mystery turns into an unexpectedly emotional ride. Warning: you will cry and jump at the same time.

4. Deathstalker (Oct. 10 – Shout! Studios)

If you’re into blood-soaked fantasy chaos, Deathstalker is your jam.

Directed by Steven Kostanski (Psycho Goreman), this remake brings back the ‘80s sword-and-sorcery madness with Daniel Bernhardt slashing through monsters like it’s his day job. Expect over-the-top gore and glorious creature fights.

5. Shelby Oaks (Oct. 24 – Neon)

YouTube critic-turned-director Chris Stuckmann nails his first feature with a chilling mystery about a woman searching for her missing sister, and the eerie forces behind it.

Smart, atmospheric, and genuinely scary, Shelby Oaks is the dark horse of this Halloween lineup.
