Jake Tapper, CNN anchor and long-time friend of television host Jimmy Kimmel, has broken his silence over the recent incident.

The 56-year-old journalist criticised ABC after the network indefinitely pulled Kimmel’s late-night show.

According to Tapper, the shocking decision was motivated by financial interests and political strategy.

Notably, the move came after the 57-year-old comedian angered MAGAworld with his comments on the killing of right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk.

Additionally, Tapper urged his followers on X to “follow the money.”

“Sure, people might be offended by what Kimmel said,” he explained, “but there’s also a huge financial incentive and a chance to stay on the right side of the FCC and the Trump crowd.”

He also drew parallels with CBS’s firing of Stephen Colbert, claiming it was a calculated move to gain favour with the Trump administration.

He also slammed both moves as “politics disguised as programming,” driven by profit and political influence, not public outrage.

Moreover, on the Sept. 18 episode of The Tonight Show, the fellow comedian Jimmy Fallon also reacted to ABC suspending Kimmel’s show after FCC pressure, quipping, “WTF?”

How did Jimmy Kimmel comment on Trump and Charlie Kirk’s death?

Jimmy Kimmel criticised Donald Trump and his supporters after Charlie Kirk’s death, saying they were “desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
