Channing Tatum reflects on split with ex-wife Jenna Dewan

Marvel’s newest superhero, Channing Tatum, is opening up about his split from ex-wife Jenna Dewan, calling the divorce a “painful break.”

Tatum, who shares a 12-year-old daughter with Dewan, spoke to Variety about playing a character who misses his daughter, reflecting on his own experience of separation from Everly.

"I know for a fact I’m able to understand it," he told the outlet. "Jenna and I are good now, but it was a painful break to have that fall apart, especially being so young.”

The actor added that they tried to keep their marriage together for a year and a half, but eventually realised it wasn’t working.

“But it’s really tough not to have your daughter half the time,” he admitted. “I wish I could just have her all the time.”

Tatum and Dewan first met as costars on the 2006 film Step Up and got engaged two years later. They married in Malibu, California, in 2009 but separated in 2018. Dewan filed for divorce that October, and the case was finally settled six years later, in September 2024.

"I’ve lived six or seven different lives,” Tatum told Variety. “Life gives you fuel. If you’ve really been heartbroken, and really been in pain and felt true aloneness … I’ve experienced enough that I have something to offer—the technique and the ability to actually deliver.
