The Harry Potter: The Sorcerer’s Stone hitmaker, Chris Columbus has shared his take on images shared of the highly anticipated series.
In the snaps are set photos of Nick Frost as Hagrid, dressed similarly to the one envisioned by award-winning filmmaker who had cast Robbie Coltrane in the 2001 movie.
In an episode of The Rest Is Entertainment podcast, the Home Alone filmmaker stated, “So, I’m seeing these photographs… and [Nick Frost is] wearing the exact same costume that we designed for Hagrid. Part of me was like: What’s the point?”
Chris noted that he had expected things to be different with the HBO series, but it appears to be all the same.
He continued, “It’s very flattering for me, because I’m like, that’s exactly the Hagrid costume that we designed, so part of it is really exciting, so I’m excited to see what they’re going to do with it. Part of it is sort of deja vu all over again.”
Chris has previously explained that he has no jealousy or regret over not being involved in the new series, since he is proud of the work he did on the films and that it’s time to move on.
The new Harry Potter, which will come out in 2027, is being helmed by Mark Mylod.
