Rupert Grint opened up about nearly quitting his acting career after his role in the Harry Potter films.
In conversation with The New York Times, the 37-year-old actor confessed he felt suffocated when he was filming the franchise and thought he wouldn’t make it as an adult actor.
He admitted, “I definitely did think, 'Is it too late to pick something else? "Potter was so full on — [filming] all year, then we’d promote the rest of the time. It was quite suffocating.”
Later in the interview, the Servant star added, "It was an out-of-body experience for a while, but I think we finished at the right time.”
Notably, Grint considered having a career as an ice cream man after the Harry Potter movies concluded in 2008. He bought an ice cream truck with his earnings and gave out free treats to children in his neighbourhood.
However, the voice actor was worried about nothing since he went on to work in several films after his role as Ron Weasley. In 2011, he debuted in Ed Sheeran’s music video after being pointed out for his resemblance to the singer.
Recently, in 2025, Rupert Grint reunited with Sheeran to play him in A Little More, a music video, which is a part of his upcoming album, Play.
On the personal front, the Moonwalker actor married Georgia Groome in 2011. The couple share two daughters, born in 2020 and 2025, respectively.
