Abel Tesfaye, who is known for creating several chart-topping hits, performed his final concert as famous persona The Weeknd.

After achieving the major honours of key to the city from his hometown, The Weeknd is finally looking forward to rest after 15 years.

On Friday, the Blinding Light hitmaker addressed the crowd with an emotional message: “If it wasn’t for Toronto, I wouldn’t be a star,” stressing the importance of the city in his career.

Abel also included the residents of the nearby condo towers that they are “not sleeping tonight.”

After taking over the stage in a silver mask, the superstar performed some of the hit tracks, including those from his latest album Hurry Up Tomorrow.

The 35-year-old wrapped up his After Hours til Dawn Tour with his final musicale in Toronto, bringing his fans to tears as he signed out.

Earlier, the singer made history as he broke the record of Rogers Centre with his six sold out concerts, becoming the male solo artist with most performances.

When did Abel Tesfaye announce the retirement of The Weeknd?

After launching his sixth studio album, Abel announced The Weeknd’s retirement. He explained in an interview earlier: “You have a persona, but then you have the competition of it all… It never ends until you end it.”

He reached this conclusion after experiencing a “mental breakdown.” The persona was seemingly having an impact on his mental well-being.

Breaking away from the "rat race," the R&B singer is now looking forward to express himself freely with fans expecting something unique in this new chapter of his life.
