Meghan Markle’s popularity among Americans has fluctuated in recent years, but new polling shows that she still commands more support than at least one senior royal.
After stepping down from royal duties in 2020 and relocating to California with Prince Harry, Meghan’s public image in the US has seen both highs and lows.
In March 2021, following the couple’s explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, YouGov found that 68 percent of Americans expressed sympathy for Harry and Meghan.
However, the most recent YouGov poll from April 2024 shows Meghan’s popularity holding steady but lower than its peak: 41 percent of Americans said they liked Meghan, while 26 percent disliked her, giving her a net positive rating of +15.
In comparison, Prince Harry performed better with a net rating of +35.
Princess Kate topped Meghan at +43, while Prince William polled at an impressive +53. Even King Charles was ahead of Meghan at +21.
But one notable royal trailed Meghan in US public opinion: Queen Camilla. Despite her longstanding role beside King Charles, Camilla earned a net negative rating of -7, placing her below Meghan in American popularity rankings.
