John Torode dropped from MasterChef after two decades
MasterChef host John Torode has been dropped from the long-running BBC show following an internal investigation.
The 59-year-old chef was found to have used a slur when referring to a staff member.
Reportedly, the incident took place after filming an episode in 2018.
Although, Torode has denied remembering the incident, saying he has “absolutely no recollection.”
However, the BBC confirmed this week that his contract will not be renewed.
Earlier reports suggested the incident may have taken place at a 2019 wrap party, when Torode was singing along to a Kanye West song that included the word.
The remark was allegedly made in private, and the colleague involved was said not to have taken offence.
BBC News later clarified that this was not the complaint that led to his dismissal.
Other allegations included abusive behaviour towards junior staff and the use of inappropriate sexual language.
It was later stated that there was not enough evidence to support those additional claims.
