‘The Last of Us’ star Bella Ramsey takes centre stage in ‘Maya’

The Last of Us star Bella Ramsey is set to make her debut in upcoming thriller series Maya for Channel 4.

The 21-year-old has taken the helm of six-parts series, starring as Maya, the teenage daughter of Anna, played by Daisy Haggard.

According to Deadline, the upcoming TV show will be written and directed by Daisy Haggard, an International Emmy nominee.

The series marks the directorial debut of Haggard in Two-Brothers Production show, the company behind hits like Fleabag and The Tourist.

The story explores the difficulties faced by Maya and Anna as both daughter and mother leave their lives behind in London and are forced to take on new identities in a small rural Scottish town.

However, things don't settle there as their past trauma comes to haunt them, tearing their lives apart.

Talking about the story, Ramsey said: “This story and these characters Daisy has created are so alive, nuanced, wickedly funny and scarily dark.”

Every character jumps off the page, the dialogue is incredibly witty and I am so excited to play Maya opposite Daisy’s Maya," she added.

Produced by Kenny Tanner, the psychological thriller series will shed light on the themes of love, family bond, and predatory male behaviour.

Maya, the dark comedy show is set to be streamed on Channel 4. However, the exact release date is unknown as the production is underway. 

Will Maya series be released in 2025?

According to the official announcement so far, there is no confirmation of a release date in 2025.
