James Cameron and Christopher Nolan are considered two of the greatest filmmakers of all time with a directing portfolio of multiple award-winning movies.

Christopher Nolan’s 2023 movie Oppenheimer won multiple Oscars but it turns out it has failed to impress the filmmaker’s rival James.

James, who is famous for making Titanic and Avatar, has called the movie a “moral cop-out”.

Oppenheimer follows the story of J Robert Oppenheimer, who is called the father of atomic bomb and his lead up to creating the bomb that was dropped on Hiroshima, Japan in 1945.

The film, despite being a success, was widely critised for not highlighting the horrors of the atomic bomb that caused 135,000 casualties.

The Titanic director has similar views on the film.

In conversation with Deadline, James said “I love the filmmaking, but I did feel that it was a bit of a moral cop-out, because it’s not like Oppenheimer didn’t know the effects.”.

“I felt that it dodged the subject.”, James commented.

The film made $1 billion at the box office and won Christopher Nolan his first Academy Award as Best Director.
