David Beckham and Maria Sharapova led a star-studded cast on the first day of Wimbledon.

Beckham was watching his Inter Miami team lose to Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup when he made the transatlantic run from Atlanta.

However, he posted an excited selfie with former Wimbledon champion Sharapova on Henman Hill after landing at SW19, displaying no symptoms of jet lag.

Following an injury sustained while playing for England 22 years ago that left him in "unbearable" pain and necessitated surgery to remove a screw embedded in his wrist, Beckham, 50, was admitted to the hospital last week.

He was spotted arriving at Atlanta's Mercedes-Benz Stadium while sporting a blue sling and a plaster cast over his right hand on Sunday.

At Wimbledon, he was still in a positive frame of mind as he caught up with Sharapova in the morning while wearing another navy suit. He and his mother, Sandra, were seated in the Royal Box.

What happened to David Beckham?

David Beckham has been hospitalized with a sling in arm. However, there are no official updates of the actual reason of the injury.
