Scary scenes unfolded at Gramercy Theatre in New York on Saturday after T-Rex suffered a seizure mid-round.
The rapper was competing in a live rap battle against Geechi Gotti at the NOMEXV event when he suddenly collapsed.
The unsettling incident was broadcast live, showing T-Rex struggling to breathe before collapsing on the floor while vigorously shaking.
The artist’s peers were visibly distraught by what transpired in front of their eyes and quickly rushed to help.
TMZ reports that the 38-year-old asked for a bottle of water before going on stage because of extreme humidity inside the venue.
The outlet also reports the Harlem native is currently in stable condition, with more updates to follow from his friends and family.
T-Rex’s opponent Gotti also revealed that he is praying for his onstage adversary and would pay him a visit at the hospital.
Battle rap involves two opponents improvising on stage to hurl insults at each other. Its popularity has grown over the years, with established leagues like Ultimate Rap League (URL) organising regular competitions in New York City.
