Hollywood method actor Johnny Depp and French pop icon Vanessa Paradis fell out of their relationship in 2012 after spending 14 years together.

The iconic couple have two kids—a daughter, Lily-Rose Depp, and a son, Jack Depp.

In a recent interview with the U.K.-based news outlet The Sunday Times, the Pirates of the Caribbean star became sentimental as he talked about his children.

The topic came up when Depp pointed out that an unfinished painting hanging behind him was a portrait of Lily-Rose, his daughter.

“I never finished it,” Johnny said. “She was 10 then, and 25 now.”

Depp and Paradis welcomed their daughter in 1999.

“Years get away from us, don’t they?” the actor added, groaning. “I’m of the empty-nest syndrome.”

When the outlet asked what he misses most about having his two kids around, Depp became enthusiastic.

“Oh man, my kids growing up in the south of France in their youth?” he said.

After their split in 2012, the couple decided to raise their kids out of the spotlight. The children were raised in an estate near St. Tropez, bought by Depp in 2001.

They later moved to Los Angeles.

“I was Papa. I cannot tell you how much I loved being Papa,” Johnny recalled. “Then, suddenly, Papa was out the window. I was Dad. But Papa was awesome, and I’m getting old enough for Papa to possibly come back. Some motherf-----’s going to have to call me Papa!”
