Will Smith has spoken out about the famous incident in which he slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars with an unexpected perspective on the impact it had on his life and career.
The 56-year-old actor thought back to the incident in which he hit 60-year-old Chris on stage after making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith's shaved head, which resulted from her diagnosis of alopecia.
The shocking incident provoked outrage around the world and resulted in a 10-year ban from the Oscars.
Nearly three years later, Will has spoken about authenticity, personal development, and how the fallout changed his perspective, calling the incident "bruitiful,” a combination of beautiful and brutal.
"Finding that way to be with my own humanity - be able to not be perfect but be human and find a higher power in my humanity that I found in my constellation of ideas of perfection that we called Will Smith," he said during his Tuesday appearance on Radio 1Xtra with host Remi Burgz.
It is to be noted that his comeback studio album was labelled a “commercial flop” after it did not make it to the Billboard 200.
According to the musician, the record held great significance as it ended his 20-year-long hiatus following the Oscars incident.
