Meghan Markle, Prince Harry hire ex-PR chief of The Crown, sparking backlash

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are under fire once again, this time for hiring a former PR chief for The Crown as their new Director of Communications.

Emily Robinson, who led publicity for Netflix’s hit royal drama from seasons three through six, was appointed last week to oversee the Sussexes' comms strategy.

The move has sparked backlash, with one royal insider telling the Daily Mail: “In the circumstances, it’s almost beyond belief.”

The controversy stems from The Crown’s strained history with the royal family.

The show, often criticized for blurring fact and fiction, came under fire for dramatizing sensitive royal moments, including those involving Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana.

Robinson reportedly pushed back against calls to add a ‘fictional disclaimer’ to season five.

While Harry and Meghan are said to be aware of Robinson’s role on the show, sources claim they view it as just one of many projects she handled during her time at Netflix.

Still, the optics of the decision. especially given Harry’s public grievances about royal portrayals, have raised eyebrows in both palace and public circles.
