Meghan Markle’s viral twerking clip marking daughter Princess Lilibet’s birthday has divided royal fans, and sparked comparisons with Kate Middleton.
The Duchess of Sussex shared a video of her dancing in a hospital room with Prince Harry to The Baby Momma Dance, shortly before giving birth to Lilibet, now 4.
The Instagram reel quickly became Meghan’s second most-watched post, despite backlash.
A viral 26-second TikTok montage comparing Meghan’s playful moment with Kate Middleton’s composed royal appearances, like Trooping the Colour and the Coronation, has clocked over 3 million views. It's caption: "Royalty."
While critics slammed Meghan’s move as "tone-deaf," many fans leapt to her defense.
“Meghan and Harry… happier, real, normal,” read one top comment. Others praised her for not acting like a "robot" and for living authentically.
Still, the divide was stark. “Kate is class. Meghan is a disgrace,” one comment read. Another added, “There’s a difference between royalty and celebrity.”
Neither Meghan nor Kensington Palace has commented, but the Duchess has since posted Disneyland snaps and teasers for her brand, As Ever.
